What changes the number
The calculator works in grams — body coverage × design density ÷ your cone size — then adds a spare buffer. It uses field averages for natural henna, so your real usage still shifts a little with:
- How the artist works. An experienced artist lays a thinner, more even line and wastes less; beginners and heavy-pressure hands go through more.
- Hand and arm size. Full arms to the elbow can double the paste of hands-only.
- Practice and mistakes. Most artists warm up on paper or a spare hand and re-do a section or two — that's what the spare cones cover.
- Session length and weather. On a long, dry or air-conditioned day, tips block and paste dries in the cone, so you open more of them.

+How many henna cones do I need for a wedding?
For a mehndi function with around 20 guests at light coverage (both hands, fingers, a border) plus the bride at dense full coverage, you're looking at roughly 16–20 of our 15 g cones once you add a spare buffer. Use the calculator above with your real headcount, coverage and design density for a closer number.
+How far does one henna cone go?
Our cones are 15 g. At that size one cone covers about 4–5 people for a small motif, 2–3 people for 'both hands, light', roughly one person for both hands full, and a bride runs 3–5 cones for medium designs — 5–8 for dense jaali or Rajasthani work. Cheaper retail cones are often 10–12 g, so you'd need proportionally more.
+Does the design change how much henna I need?
A lot. Two people getting 'both hands' can use 2–3× different amounts: an open Arabic floral with thin lines and bare skin uses about 30% less paste than a balanced design, while a fine jaali net, figurative Rajasthani work or heavy shading uses about 50% more. The calculator has a density setting for exactly this.
+Why does the calculator add extra cones?
Between 15% and 22% is added for warm-up strokes before you start, mistakes, cones whose tips block, and paste that dries out during a long session — more for bigger multi-artist events. Running out mid-function is far worse than having a spare.
+I need 50+ cones — is it cheaper in bulk?
Yes. At event and reseller volumes, wholesale pricing gives you a lower per-cone rate. Message us your date and headcount and we'll quote a minimum and a per-unit price.
+How early should I order for a big event?
About a week ahead. Henna stains best when fresh, so we roll and dispatch close to your date. Ordering early also leaves time for a 48-hour patch test.
